Tonight’s game needs no introduction, but will get one anyway - “Metroid”.  Released as one of two entries in Nintendo’s Adventure Series on the NES (with the other being Kid Icarus), Metroid was initially released on the Famicom Disk System in 1986, then in North America in August of 1987 and later in Europe in January of 1988.

Originally known in development as Space Hunter, Metroid - being a play on words of metro and android, was developed by both Nintendo’s R&D1 team and Intelligent Systems Inc.

The pair was responsible for creating such games as Gyromite, Stack Up, Duck Hunt, Hogan’s Alley and Wild Gunman.
